Local - "Connection Through Compassion"
Christ Methodist community prayerfully seeks guidance from the Holy Spirit in serving others locally, nationally, and beyond our borders following Christ's admonition in Acts to be witnesses for Him "in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 NIV).
Every 2nd Sunday we take up a special "Noisy Coin" collection for four local outreach missions: St. Vincent de Paul Society, Daystar Life Center, St. Petersburg Free Clinic, and The Salvation Army.
Non-perishable food items are collected weekly and during our special concerts to distribute to the food banks of these organizations.
CUMC congregation members take part in serving in their soup kitchens, or wherever needed.
Christ Church is in a covenant relation with The Florida United Methodist Children's Home in Enterprise, FL. Along with members who give regularly to this worthy mission, we designate every 5th Sunday month for a special offering collected.
Starting in the Fall, we begin collecting items for Operation Christmas Child, a worldwide ministry of Samaritan's Purse. We prepare shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and Biblical booklets that go to children around the world. If you would like to contribute to this valuable mission work, you can either bring the items to church, or you may give a monetary donate and a designated member will do the shopping. Items can be placed in specially marked boxes in the Chapel, the Sanctuary, and "The Gathering."
We work with United Methodist Cooperative Ministries in their special drives, serving on the Board, collecting for Children of the World Preschool and participate in the Walk for the Dream every year. One of our Saturday Service projects has been to build platforms for the tents at Pinellas Hope. We welcome your thoughts on how we can continue to reach out to our neighbors, near and far. We also fill "ditty bags" to help local residents. Visist www.umcmsuncoast.org, and see how you can help.
Mission Outreach Laundry Drop. The first Saturday of each month we get a group and visit local laundry mats and pay for people's laundry, this includes soap, softner and quarters. Most of all we communicate with people in our community. It's not only a rewarding experience but also a huge impact on those we reach. Please join us on the first Saturday of each month at 9:30 am in our Courtyard.
CUMC supports: Day Star, CASA, St. Pete Free Clinic and the Bartlett Community Garden.
