It's an exciting time for the music ministries of Christ United Methodist Church.
The Sanctuary Choir sings each week at our 11:00 Traditional service under the direction of Dr. Vernon Taranto. An integral part of our sanctuary service, the choir prepares weekly musical offerings of uplifting hymns, introits and anthems for Sundays and special church gatherings. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm. You'll find us in the choir room located at the rear of the church on the second floor. The entrance can be found off of the alley between City Hall and Christ Church. Just ring the bell at the glass door next to the elevator and you'll find a group who loves to sing, laugh, and care for each other as a special part of our Christ Church community.
In 2010, we started a Scholarship Program for St. Pete College music students. Recipients of this scholarship become members of the Sanctuary Choir and benefit from learning a rich selection of church choir music, while offering special solos and ensembles to enhance the Sunday worship.
If you find that ringing bells is enjoyable to you, the Christ Church Bell Choir, Harmony Ringers, practices on Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm. The bell choir room is on the 5th Street side of our Education Building. We use the same entrance as the Sanctuary Choir. Find the glass door next to the elevator, off of the alley between City Hall and Christ Church, and ring the bell.
Each week you'll find Barry Stevens skillfully playing the Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ. We are blessed to have such a talented organist, since 1987, playing such a magnificient organ.
