Christ Church welcomes special guest Rev. Sidney Tompkins to deliver the message on July 28th.
Rev. Sidney Tompkins combines her decades as a licensed psychotherapist with her experience as a United Methodist pastor to deliver practical down-to-earth messages that is rooted less in theological theory than in hardscrabble real-life issues that people face. She worked as a therapist, and then as Associate Pastor at Pasadena Community Church in St. Petersburg. She served on the Florida UMC Conference’s Board of Ordained Ministry which determines who is approved to become ordained. As a therapist she worked with couples and individuals addressing marriage and family issues. She has worked as a teacher and consultant for Fortune 500 corporations and government federal law enforcement agencies to help them learn to manage stress and trauma. More recently, Sidney and her husband, who is a journalist, have worked with journalists worldwide who have covered trauma including mass killings, disasters, and government abuse.
Sidney and her husband Al are parents to three adopted (now grown) children from Guatemala. China and Vietnam.
